The Hoover SSN1700 Steamjet Steam Mop is the best steam mop I have tested.
This is mainly because the mop has a unique feature that does not appear in other steam mops. This consists of a dual head. A large rectangular head designed for cleaning large areas. This head contains a triangular scrubbing brush.
This brush can be detached and used for hard to clean areas and to get into the corners of your rooms.
In addition the Hoover SSN1700 is one of the most powerful steam cleaners with a specified 1700 watts of power.
Hoover SSN1700 Description and Features
On opening the box, the Hoover SSN1700 has all the appearance of a steam mop for professional rather than domestic use.
The Hoover SSN1700 is only requiring three parts to put together.
After assembling, I just switched on the mop. It then only takes about 30 seconds before it is ready to steam.
To test, I first vacuumed up any loose dirt to avoid scratching the tiles when I am using the mop.
I tested the Hoover SSN1700 steam mop on my dirty kitchen floor tiles. Pressing the foot pedal releases the integrated triangular scrubbing brush.
Then using the triangular brush head to clean some hard to clean areas and to clean right into the corners.
Finally I attached the carpet adaptor to the mop. This allowed the mop to glide over and freshen up the carpets in the living room.
The mop tips back vertically to allowing me to clean under low-lying furniture.
I managed to complete the kitchen and large living room in without having to refill the water tank.
The Hoover SSN1700 has its own built in water purification system.

What I like about the Hoover SSN1700
The Hoover SSN1700 is light but sturdy. Although designed for domestic cleaning it has the look of a professional cleaner.
It is easy to assemble only takes 30 seconds before it is ready to steam.
The cable is long – 7 metres, which means that you can move it between rooms without having to keep on unplugging.
The main reason I like the Hoover SSN1700 is its one unique feature. That is the scrubbing brush lifts out of the main foot. Therefore, you can scrub difficult marks using the brush and the steam power. The scrubbing head is triangular so you can scrub right into the corners. This feature works perfectly and as a result, my kitchen floor is spotless.
The Hoover SSN1700 will tip back allowing you to clean under low lying furniture.
The Hoover SSN1700 uses Velcro grips to secure the cleaning pads to the foot of the steam mop. This is much more secure than string ties used in other mops. As a result, the pads never slip off when cleaning.
The water tank is large 0.7 litres, which gives approximately 20 minutes continuous steaming time. Therefore, does two large rooms before you need to refill. The steam mop comes with an inbuilt purification system for the water The floors were dry soon after I finished steaming the tiles.
The carpets were dry within 15 minutes after I had refreshed them with the steam cleaner.
The removable handle allows for compact storage so saving space.
The Ergonomically designed handle makes it easy to carry around the house. Comes with twist and steer technology this is a swivel head which means it is easy to manoeuvre.
What I dislike about the Hoover SSN1700
I found it slightly difficult to take off the water tank for refilling. However, after several goes this became easier.
Replacement cleaning pads were difficult to get and the cost expensive. However, these pads are now available from Amazon.
Summary of Review
The Hoover SSN1700 is more expensive than some mops. However, I think the extra money spent is well worth it. As it is currently the best steam mop on the market. I recommend buying the Hoover SS1700 for all your floor-steaming requirements. Check out the Hoover SSN1700 Steamjet Steam Mop at Amazon.

I purchased Hoover SSN1700 steam mop and like yousaid water tank very stiff to remove and re fit so much so it cracked,
Hoover customer service is impossible to speak to and leave you holding for 35mins plus each time. they cannot send replacement tank as they are out of stock! they have said to return mop, shame it worked well otherwise. Hoover sales/service phoneline is a disgrace. I wishI had looked at facebook page first, everyone else says the same.
I too have great difficulty with removing the tank to fill and then to put it back again, for someone with a bit of arthritis in their hands or wrists as I have it is a nightmare, a great shame as it is a superb cleaner especially if you have stone tiles in the kitchen and the scrubbing pad bit in the middle is really good for getting into tight corners. This is the only downfall but such a big one for me.
I never take the time to write reviews but on this occasion I was so angered by Hoover customer services that I thought I should.
I have exactly the same steamer, which I purchased less than eighteen months ago. I went for a reputable brand and one that looked robust. Unfortunately, and after just 30 uses, the water started seeping out from within the mechanics and failed to reach the steamer head – obviously very dangerous.
Of course there was nothing that they could offer (despite ringing a number stuck to my appliance that promised help). Fine, it wasn’t particularly expensive but to be advised that I should just throw it away and with no concern for make/model safety issues, I shall not be purchasing a Hoover product ever again.
