The Dyson DC56 Hard combines the tasks of a mop, steam cleaner, and vacuum all into one.
With steam mops you need to vacuum the floor first. The Dyson DC56 Hard is unique among vacuum cleaners. In that the floor head has two suction vacuum channels and in the centre is the wet wipe. This means you can tackle grime and dust together.
It has Root Dyson Cyclone technology Which means that it spins at three times as fast as ordinary vacuum motors. It uses the digital Dyson motor V2. Which enables it to produce enabling powerful and constant suction.
Dyson DC56 Hard Review Description and Features
The Dyson DC56 Hard came well packaged and the instructions were simple.
Easy to assemble and only required three steps. Which were to attach the nozzle, put on the wipes and turn on.
When it is fully charged and ready to use a light lights up on the plug.
I have used Swiffer wet mopping refills. Which work fine and last longer than the Dyson wet pads.
I noticed that it picks up more grime and dirt than a steamer without the added suction does.
It is only advertised to vacuum dirt and mop up grime.
When using the steam mop is fairly quiet but it does get louder when you change to MAX Setting.
The MAX button on the top of the cleaner gives you some more suction power when you need it.
Before I had the Dyson DC56 Hard I would have to vacuum the whole floor. Then clean with a mop and bucket which took forever.
As I have a large area to clean over 1500 sq ft of hard floor. I vacuum up any large particles usually around the edges of the rooms.
The vacuum is able to reach hard to access places and can negotiate tight corners.
The Dyson DC56 Hard also works well on ceramic tiles.
As it is lightweight and cordless it is no problem to take out and use. Unlike conventional vacuums where you have to take out, unwind the cord, regularly change sockets and so on.
It does miss the odd particle and can leave the odd mark at first. But this happened with my steam mop anyway.
I would recommend it when you have light to moderately dirty hard floors to clean.
The squeegee with the mop only allows light dust to be picked up. With pet hair you will need to vacuum first.
It works well in a small area. If the area is larger you need to re-wet the pad. The pads do dry out a bit to quickly and so then have to be changed.
The disposable sheets do not last long before they dry out and they cannot be used for a small area and then stored as they will dry out.
The dirt collects in a canister which you empty by pressing a lever.
Also used it to clean the car. I was able to clean the floors and mats using the attachments that came with the cleaner.
The Dyson DC56 Hard comes with nine Hard floor cleaning wipes. These will remove dirt and grime from hard floors, including laminate, glazed tiles, hard wood vinyl, polished granite and marble.
These can be brought in packs of three on amazon.
The wet wipes that came with it are sturdy, but they always seem to dry out before I’m done cleaning.
I suppose if you really want to clean a large area you would have to use several wipes.
The wipes are easy to attach and smell wonderful.
Dyson DC56 Hard Review Performance
What I like about the Dyson DC56 Hard
The Dyson DC56 Hard is specially designed for hard floors. Because it combines a mop and vacuum all in one cleaner.
It uses two suction channels combined with a dyson wet wipe. Which allows it to remove dust and grime all in one go.
With conventional steam mops you have to vacuum the floor first and then use the steam mop.
Has a great wall mount as it saves space and recharges at the same time.
It is easy to clean and maintain.
Has a pivot head which means it is easy to get around in small spaces.
It comes with various different attachments. You can also interchange with other Dyson vacuum cleaners attachments.
The pads provided last for several rooms before changing.
Good for soft wood floors as this tool has no brushes and will therefore not scratch.
Easily converts to a handheld. As the handle and canister detaches and you can add other attachments to it.
What I dislike about the Dyson DC56 Hard
The vacuum holds its charge for 15 minutes, 6 on max mode. The short run time is due to the suction power.
Takes 3.5 hours to fully recharges.
You have to hold your finger down on the trigger all the time when you are cleaning.
Does not pick up large objects of dirt from the floor. Not so good at picking up animal hair.
The pad dries out fast when used.
The mop will not pick up large messes. The mop head was not designed for this purpose. You need to use the attachments for this.
The run time is only 20 minutes which is short. But the idea is to use it together with your existing vacuum cleaner.
The Dyson DC56 Hard Mop does tend to a little residue on the floor.
